Download Portward ↗

This is the official Portward download page. The button gives the setup program of the original build, about 34 MB, for Windows 10 or 11 on x64 computers. Version 2.9.26 was released on 2 November 2026, and the steps below take you from the file to your first task.

  1. Press the download button. Your browser fetches the setup program, about 34 MB, and the site records the request before it redirects you to the installer, as the Privacy page describes. Keep the file in a folder you can find again, because you need its path in the next step.
  2. Compare the SHA-256 checksum of the downloaded file with the published manifest. Run the Windows command shown further down in a terminal, replace the path with your own and check that the two values match. The command prints one long value, so compare it character by character, or paste both values side by side into a text editor.
  3. Run the setup program. If Windows SmartScreen warns about an unsigned program, click More info, then Run anyway, but only after the checksum matches the published manifest. The installer is not code-signed yet, which is why the warning appears.
  4. Open Portward and connect a model: a cloud provider endpoint, a model on your PC or the built-in model. Choose the project folder and, for a server you own, the SSH environment. Start with Plan only to see how the plan and the cards look before you allow any action that changes something.
Before you begin

You do not need an account to run Portward. A cloud AI provider that you connect may charge you separately for its own service, and that arrangement is between you and the provider. A cloud model receives your prompts, including the text of any file the agent reads, so read the provider's terms before you connect one. Use the app only on computers, servers and accounts that you own or are authorised to administer, and make a backup or a snapshot before any big change on a server.

System requirements

Portward runs on Windows 10 and 11 with an x64 processor. It works in three environments: local Windows, WSL, and SSH to a server you own. The interface comes in 13 languages. You also need a model to talk to, which can be a cloud AI provider through an API endpoint, a model running locally on your PC, or the built-in model, which is ready to use without an endpoint of your own. The Test button checks an endpoint and shows the response time and the context window. Keep the working folder on a disk with room for your copied configuration files, logs and notes.

Updates and versions

New versions are published automatically, and the installer build enables auto-updates. The app shows an Update button when a new version is ready. The current version is 2.9.26, released on 2 November 2026. If an update causes a problem, report it with the Send feedback button inside the app, which is the support channel for Portward. Plans survive restarts, so restarting the app after an update does not lose a plan that you wrote in Plan only mode.

Check the download

Windows
certutil -hashfile "C:\Users\you\Downloads\<downloaded file>.exe" SHA256

Run the command above on the downloaded file and compare its output with the SHA-256 value in the published manifest. The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn about it. Click More info, then Run anyway, only after the two values match. If they differ, do not run the file, and download it again from this page. Keep the manifest value in your notes, because it also helps the next time you reinstall or move to another computer.
